6th Street and Sunsets

Image
And just like that it's already half way through February. As you may be able to tell, I've traded in the snow and the cold for some sunshine and 70 degree weather. Blissful to say the least. You also haven't seen a sunset until you've been to Tucson- they are stunning just about every night. My goal is to get to the top of these parking garages more often and take in all the beautiful colors that paint themselves across the mountains as the sun sets. Valentine's Day is only a day away, and what a sucky holiday for literally everyone. See, if you're in a relationship you have to have all these elaborate plans and be super duper romantic, when really you couples should be like that all the time. Then there's the depressive single people who throw 'I hate valentine's day' parties or go watch How to Be Single in the theaters. Thank you for St. Valentin for all you did but we have now commercialized your p...

Are We Out of the Woods?

Image
"Are we in the clear yet?" Oh Taylor, how do you do it? Writing love songs that connect with each and everyone of us, it's just amazing. As some of you may know, Taylor Swift released the official music video for Out of the Woods on New Years Eve. Although I really love the song, the video was disappointing to me. It wasn't as powerful and intense as I feel the music makes the song feel. Still, the message of the song is awesome. Finding yourself in a maze of woods to discover that you're OK on your own is something we struggle with. And like the end of the video says :  " She lost him but found herself.  And somehow that was everything." Chills anyone? As a single lad myself, I know how hard it is to be OK by yourself. I'm definitely working on more self-love and self-happiness though because it really is so important. If you aren't happy with yourself, you most definitely won't b...

It may already be January 10th but HAPPY NEW YEAR! It's 2016, holy cow. My junior english teacher was right, college goes in the blink of an eye. Luckily I still have one more year. On my plane back to Tucson yesterday I finished the book,  Thrive by Arianna Huffinton. The last few sections of the book has started to shift the way I think about time. She wrote one section on death,  the end of our life, and it never occurred to me before how many Westerners avoid this topic completely. And I was one of them! If I ever thought too much about the 'end of my life' I would actually have a panic attack. Yet, so many other countries and their religions around the world live their life as a giant preparation for death. Quite remarkable I think. I won't go into details because it is still a touchy subject with many but I recommend reading the book if it sounds interesting to you, it's a great read (find it  here ).  Back to the ne...

The Gift of Beauty

Image
Is anyone else shocked that Christmas is already over, and 2016 is one day away! Time flew by this past semester at school and I had a really hard time juggling the amount of schoolwork I was given plus work and extracurriculars. One could say the business schoool is my excuse for not blogging for 4 MONTHS. Gasp. This will change, I'm determined. Fast forward to present time and Christmas is already over. I'll sum it up in three words, food, basketball, and tenzi (find it here ). My favorite part of the holidays is just relaxing and laughing with the family. Before we all ring in the New Year tomorrow, I wanted to share some of the beauty related gifts that I received for Christmas. It's always fun for me to read about different beauty products out there and I hope it is for you too! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1. Splatter

Before I leave for my college road trip part 2, I wanted to write a quick post featuring some very fun photos taken by my good friend Mia. This was probably one of the most fun and interesting shoots I've ever done considering I had to lie in the grass and have paint splattered all over my face. But once I saw those photos, I knew it was worth it. So a shout out to Mia for taking awesome photos for me over the past couple of years!  College Road Trip Part 2  My mom and I are heading out on the road again to begin another long trek to Arizona. We did this already before my freshman year but now the car we're driving is staying with me at school :) which I'm very happy about. Of course, no normal person can drive 27 hours straight through to Tucson which is why my mom and I have picked out several stops along the way to stop and look at. I'm hoping to blog at least once while I;m on the road so keep you're eyes peeled.. I'm v...

Never Stop Looking

Image
I love when I'm looking for one thing but then end up finding something else way better. That's what happened with this location above! Originally I was looking for a little beach on a lake, only to learn that the lake is private to the houses on it. Then driving out of the neighborhood my friend in the passenger seat all of a sudden said "hey, there's a spot!"  After a quick turn around, we discovered another smaller lake that was open to the public, and not only included old canoes but a bridge and a gazebo! What a perfect setup.  As for the outfit part, this is my matching top and bottom set purchased from Gap. Super comfy and light weight making it perfect for summer! As for the accessories, I mixed glam with boho by stacking wooden and rope bracelets and contrasting those with my silver and pearl headband on top.  Can you believe summer is almost over?! Ahhh, it's crazy.  End of Summer Goals:  1. Actually go to one ...
