Girly & Grunge

Image
Fall is here in the city of Prague! The wind is blowing, leaves are falling, and the air is crisp and cool. It's a fascinating transition period between the high and happy feeling of summer to the dark and serious feeling of winter.  Dresses are probably the easiest item to transition from summer to fall. You just have to find one more top layer that will protect you from the wind chill so something like a sweater or light jacket. Then you just need another leg layer which is usually tights or knee high socks! Tuck 'em in some boots and voila, you have created the staple look of fall. No matter where you are in the world, I wish you a happy September and a very happy fall!  Photography Credit: Eli Just

Living In Prague: Wall Party

Image
Finally, finally, finally! I'm posting an outfit in Prague for the first time! One of my personal favorite things about Prague is all the different colored buildings. From pink to green to yellow and tan, and somehow it all flows really nicely together. There's the occasional graffiti but it gives the city some edgy character. Another beautiful day in the city made it ideal for a sleeveless tunic, purple leggings, and the classic gladiator sandals. It may not be Milan fashion week material but it works. Oh, and how could I forget the must needed statement necklace. Honestly these necklaces are the only things that keep me going day to day by making every boring outfit just a tad bit more interesting.  Stay tuned for more Prague blogging...<3 Peace. Love. Prague.

Living In Prague: Feeling Overwhelmed

Image
Ahoj from Praha! Yes, I am here and I am alive. Finally got the opportunity to write my first blog post since being here and I wanted to focus on this reoccurring feeling of being overwhelmed.  I've listed some of the factors below:  First there's the fact that you are attending a new school. A very old and very small school. And when I say small I mean that my Economics class back at Arizona is double the size of total enrollment here. Yeah, pretty tiny. The white exterior is pretty cool though, and it's very unique nonetheless.  Then there is the challenge of settling into your new living space. You have to figure out how the shower, the stove, the laundry works, and find the spot where you are most comfortable (I like the futon). Learning how to live with multiple people in a confined space is also a huge challenge but also rewarding because you hear stories and backgrounds that no one can make up.  Food is huge too. To stay alive you mus...

I'm A Flower

Image
Sometimes I feel like a flower. I catch a glimpse of myself and I feel beautiful. This is a really refreshing feeling and I truly believe that the more beauty you can find in yourself, the happier you will be. Then there's other times where my petals seem to have fallen and I've lost all charm. I 'die' in a sense. I lose my way; I lose my mind. I become wilted and often fall to the ground in tears. Yet, no matter the amount of pain from falling I will always re-grow. I will always re-stand up. I will always re-grow petals. A smile will return. There's no guaranteed time limit of this rise or this fall. Which is really saddening because I wish I could be on that high all the time but it's just not possible. I am not a fake flower, I am a part of nature and I must go through the seasons. We are all apart of nature, and we all go through the best and worst of times. Enjoy the time you are happy, and know that the saddest times will pass. Th...

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

Image
"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens Brown paper packages tied up with strings These are a few of my favorite things" -Maria, Sound of Music Since I'm on this streak where I post everything but my outfits, I had a sudden thought while in the shower to share just a few of my favorite things that I've been enjoying for awhile now.  Skechers Go Run My lovely Aunt and Uncle from California sent me two pairs of Skechers recently. I didn't even ask for two pairs but my Uncle saw these in my size and threw them in. I wasn't expecting to enjoy them so much! I went hiking in them and worked out in them. The heel is super firm and supportive while the toe part is really flexible. They are also super light which makes every shoe better. So thank you!! Aussie 3 Minute Miracle To be honest, I've owned this bottle of 3 Minute Miracle for several years now since my cousins recommended it to...

See You Later

Image
The other day I had this urge to journal about tears and their relationship to saying goodbye. This is all very personal  but I just wanted to get it down in writing, and it feels rather appropriate for right now as I prepare to say goodbye to the US, and begin my adventure in Prague. My first really big goodbye was when my brother went away to college back in 2005. That was one goodbye where I remember crying a lot but I was young and my big brother was leaving so who wouldn't cry? He left several times after that to move to places even farther away so the tears eventually stopped.  When my dad left I don't really remember there being a super sad goodbye session. The whole event was kind of heartbreaking for me so of course several tears were shed.  In 2010, the first big death happened in my family, my grandpa passed away. Here's the thing, I only choked up when I hugged my mom as she told me the news. I only teared up when my younger cousin wept in my lap. I avo...

My Little, Blue Safe Haven

Image
Sometimes you have to take your blog photos into your own hands.  While I was attempting to take photos in my room, I looked around and thought why not highlight some of my decor. Preventing several awkward shots of me just standing there... First there's the Addison hook which used to be pink with flowers but was quickly spray painted silver to match my little mirror right above it. These hooks have become the primary hanging location for all my necklaces, oh, and my dream catcher. The chandelier in the corner used to be in my mom's room but she got a new one so I adopted it! It's really cool and unique, and fits the room just right. My world map is actually a scratch off map where you scratch off all the places you have been. It's getting me amped up for my journey across the ocean, which I leave for in 5 days!! I spend a lot of time in my room, so it's good that I enjoy it. It may be small but gives me a place to sleep and a place to play with my cloth...
