Black & Green in Lake Geneva

Image
This has to be one of my favorite color combinations to wear which I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before on here...Anyway, I've actually been wanting to highlight this cool shirt I bought over Christmas break. It's from Banana Republic and the moment I saw it hung up, I knew I had to have it. I love the mesh texture overlay and how it's see through on the sleeve. It makes the shirt just that much more stylish then a plain black tee. Clearly, it can be worn very causal and I've worn it with Converse before which also looks super cute.  The greenery photos above are up in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The overcast sky didn't look to nice but it really brought out the bright green in the trees and grass there. So strange how we've had so much rain over here while California is still suffering! If only we could ship our rain water to them... Anyway, it feels so nice to have photos of clothes again! Crossing my fingers...

Summer Adventures: Amelia Island

Image
My next summer adventure took me to Amelia Island, Florida. A cute little town way up in the northeast corner of the state, just a swim away from Georgia. Almost every day consisted of going to the beach and getting some sun. It was a rather easy task considering the vacation house looked out right over the Atlantic ocean, making the walk to the beach about one minute.  One can only be a beach bum for so long before realizing it's probably time to venture out away from the beach. That led to other activities that included scooter/moped rental, a visit to Fort Clinch State Park, and a boat tour of the inlet river. The boat tour was my personal favorite because we got to see wild horses, a 3 foot alligator, and dolphins! Seeing an alligator kind of just completed the Florida trip, in my mind.  The last day out we finally were able to catch a sunset that wasn't covered by a huge cloud. It was gorgeous and a great farewell to our week...

Summer Adventures: Sleeping Bear Dunes

Image
This past weekend I got the chance to tag-a-long on a road trip up to Glen Arbor, Michigan. My cousin is working at a little shop there called the Cotton Seed over the summer so her mom, sister, and I went up to visit! She's staying at their grandparent's cottage at Sleeping Bear Dunes national lakeshore, right on Lake Michigan! It was so beautiful. Listening to the soft waves hit the little beach right in their backyard was very relaxing and made it easy to nap to.  They've built a really smooth bike path that takes you straight into the little downtown area. So on Saturday my other cousin and I biked into town and did a little shopping around all the little stores. One of the popular places to visit is the Cherry Republic where they sell a wide variety of cherry jams, chocolates, salsas, etc. It's pretty cute, and it's been around for a pretty long time! Art's Tavern is a popular place to eat, we had our first meal...

February Favorites

Image
February is just about over! Where does the time go? I want apologize for not having a super cute Valentine's Day post. I thought I had an idea but really I had a bunch of small ideas so it never came together properly. But I'm back and I thought I would share some of my favorite products, food, music, etc. from the past month.  ~First, I'll start with one of the best smelling lotions out there- Beautiful Day from Bath and Body Works. The scent is described as "a lively blend of sun kissed apple, sparkling cassis and wild daisies brightened by fresh pink peony and creamy musk," on the back of the bottle. My question is, who's job is it to describe these smells?! Seems like a difficult task.  ~I've been wearing this 'Rapid Ruby' red color from Rimmel most of the month now. I actually bought this back in Prague but it's been my go to February color! I'm trying to hang on to those winter vibes with the deep red color, it's alw...

Old Main

Image
At last, the oldest building on campus has been restored. With a new wraparound deck, the view from old main is pretty priceless. It's amazing to think that this building is still here considering it began construction in 1887. According to Wikipedia, "Old Main is one of the oldest surviving educational structures in the western United States." No wonder it needed some restoration! But I think everyone agrees that the place looks great, the grounds are clean, and the fountain is flowing beautifully! I thought my Tilly hat and cactus button up captured the pioneer spirit that was around during the building of Old Main. Of course, the jumpsuit is just a more modern twist.  It's good to have you back Old Main!

Luminous

Image
One of my general education classes I'm taking this semester is called Light, Color, & Vision- an optical sciences course. This is one of the better science classes I've taken in a really long time and we have only just started with our first topic on light! Every two weeks or so, my teacher gives us one word that we have to journal about. There are no limits to what you can write about which is really cool in my opinion and something you wouldn't expect to be doing in a science class. Being the blogger that I am, I knew that I would have to try to make a blog post also relating to the word that I would have to write about out. Luminous is actually the second word in the journal assignment (I'm still working on photos for the first). The word luminous has a really mysterious but magical sound to it. I tend to envision a candle casting a soft glow around a room, nothing to harsh. So when I saw these lights one night walking around ca...
