Never Stop Looking

Image
I love when I'm looking for one thing but then end up finding something else way better. That's what happened with this location above! Originally I was looking for a little beach on a lake, only to learn that the lake is private to the houses on it. Then driving out of the neighborhood my friend in the passenger seat all of a sudden said "hey, there's a spot!"  After a quick turn around, we discovered another smaller lake that was open to the public, and not only included old canoes but a bridge and a gazebo! What a perfect setup.  As for the outfit part, this is my matching top and bottom set purchased from Gap. Super comfy and light weight making it perfect for summer! As for the accessories, I mixed glam with boho by stacking wooden and rope bracelets and contrasting those with my silver and pearl headband on top.  Can you believe summer is almost over?! Ahhh, it's crazy.  End of Summer Goals:  1. Actually go to one

The Colors of Fisherman's Cove

My most recent Summer Adventure took my mom and I to the Canadian Province of Nova Scotia, which is all the way east of Canada and actually isn't too far from Maine! On our last day in the province, we got to wander around the small but colorful Fisherman's Cove. The brightly painted shacks screamed take photos of me! However, this is the only 'fashion' blog post I did of this trip because most of my clothes were t-shirts and soccer shorts (ideal wear for our 'casual' vacation). Luckily, I was able to throw one necklace in my luggage and once I put that on top of my black and white plaid...voila! Somewhat of an outfit. Nonetheless, you couldn't help but smile looking at these houses (especially that yellow one!). I think Canadians spend every summer painting their houses a new color because not just the stores were colorful but every house all across the mainland were bright blue or red or white or green! It was so fun

Empowering Women: Piece & Co.

Image
Earlier in June, I was lucky enough to spend a few hours downtown Chicago with the start-up fashion company Piece & Co.  One of their professional staff members was an Arizona alumni so she brought me in and introduced me to all the staff! I got to sit with everyone individually and learn about their role in the company. It taught me a lot not only about Piece & Co. itself but how a start-up is run, and how hectic it is too! I also really enjoyed talking to the Arizona alum because I could ask her questions about handling the workload of the business school, and how to step out of my box when it comes to making connections with fellow students and staff members.  Piece & Co. initially attracted me because of their mission. I may have said they are a start-up fashion company but they're so much more. The company provides jobs to female artisans all over the globe by buying and selling their craft, usually specially

Lincoln in Madison

It's that time of year again where we all get decked out in red, white, and blue to enjoy the celebration of our 239th year of Independence! Did you know we are one of the youngest countries out there? Almost every other country as at least a good 800 years on us. It's mind-blowing because we seem so powerful today.  This is one of my favorite sweatshirts, and I thought it would be appropriate for this special holiday. What's a better quote then Honest Abe saying he will be president, and then actually becoming president? Nothing. I was drawn to it not by the bluntness of the statement but because I sometimes find myself saying I'm gong to be President one day too. But it's just a statement, and unfortunately it brings a lot of eye rolls and laughs. I'm just saying if you the complainer aren't going to try to fix something, why can't I? Either way, I think the U.S. is pretty great and I bet most of you do too. Bec
